the current issue of Mexico Daily News says Zihua not Acapulco is the epicenter for Covid in Guerrero. On the positive side, hospital beds in Zihua are not maxed out.

Even if there are more cases in Zihua, to me what is important is the fact that only a small percentage of the Covid beds are occupied:

From Mexico News Daily:

« Across the state, he said, hospitalizations are going down. In Acapulco hospitals are 35.8% full, in Chilpancingo 33.3% and in Zihuatenejo just 18.5% of beds are in use. »

Well this is bad news! We all know cases/hospitalizations/deaths are all related. If the virus is expanding we will see all the effects. PERIOD!

How does the Mexico Daily News reach that conclusion? Testing is nearly non existent in Mexico. How can you know for sure where the problem is the worst?

Why do I get the feeling that none of you commenting here have been reading my posts very carefully for the past week or so?

Yes, there was testing done in the colonias and in Ixtapa. Ixtapa was the highest point of contagion according to local sources. La Puerta and all those Casas Geo projects (that should never have been built). It ran the overall count up, but everything else remained the same. It brought the contagion per 100,000 number down, but so many of these numbers are truly meaningless to the general public except in the strictest clinical sense. What counts is what's happening in the hospitals and on the streets.

The biggest problem on the ground remains getting people to wear facemasks and to practice safe distancing. More locals are doing so, but I keep seeing tourists on vacation including foreigners strolling around without masks. Especially at night.

I think mask wearing is turning out to be universally one of more effective and an inexpensive method to slow the virus spread. If every business in Zihua refused service to those not wearing a mask or offered the inexpensive paper masks to unmasked customers, it might change the attitude of tourists irregardless of their nationality. Once I got used to wearing a mask, it became part of my routine before leaving the house like carrying keys, billfold etc.

Agreed. At first I was reluctant to wear a mask considering our heath gurus said they weren’t effective in March. But now it’s a part of everyday life. What do make of The Netherlands where no one wears a mask and the government backs that up?

Those darn Dutch. Suborn, bull headed, And did I say Cheap! They just do not want to spend the money on Mask's. Oops, sorry I am Dutch.

Not often do they make a mistake when in comes to Society planning. But I think this is going to be a big mistake on their part.

The END STORY of this virus will not even be the deaths. It will be all the people with no lungs left.

The END STORY of this virus will be when we look back at it and compare it to other Pandemics as in past tense. Like, remember that Covid-19 thing. That’s what I’m looking forward to.
