Threads do not change colour

Hi Rob, the last few days after I read a thread it stays blue. It doesn't change to black to indicate that it's be read. I am signed in and my user name appears on top right corner.

It has to do with your browser, not my Message Board. Your browser apparently isn't saving cookie files. Did you recently install a new anti-virus?

No, I did not install a new anti virus program. When I look at the cookies option this is what I see:

Cookies and Site Data
Your stored cookies, site data, and cache are currently using 1.0 GB of disk space.

So it looks like that's working normally. In any case, thanks for your help. I'll keep working on it.

Okay, probably nt a cookie problem if you haven't deleted them for a while, though as your computer fills up with stored files from websites you visit it usually dumps files after reaching a certain limit. But another possibility is that you may have accidentally clicked on the REFRESH link in the same Message Board's homepage toolbar where you start a new topic, switch between table or list view, organize messages by date or last post, and navigate pages. I've done that and it "forgets" all the pages you've read.

This is weird, Rob! Some of the posts change to red when I read them, some of them don't!

The problem persists. I logged out and logged in again no problem. However, three times in a row, after being logged in, I opened up a thread and three times I got logged out again. Weird stuff happening.

Stupid basic, and you have probably done it, but restart your computer.

Nothing has changed with the Message Board, which uses cookie files stored only in your computer to "remember" what messages you've read, so it must be your browser or your O/S or possibly some software like your antivirus.

What browser and operating system are you using?
Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox or something else?
Windows, Mac, Android, Linux or something else?

Well for some reason it's apparently deleting your cookie files after every session, and that is one of the configurations in Firefox, so please check the settings for cookie files under "Privacy & Security". Click the "hamburger" (the 3 horizontal lines) on the right side at the top of your browser and click on Options. (Mine is in Spanish so yours may say something else.) You'll see the settings I'm referring to there. Make sure "Delete cookies upon closing Firefox" isn't checked. While you're there it's a good time to clear your cache if you have 1GB stored.

I had the same problem on my Chrome browser. Cleared the cache, problem gone.

Cleared the cache. "Delete cookies upon closing Firefox" isn't checked, so that's not the problem.
I logged in again but each time I went into a thread it logged me out. 3 times.
Could I set up another account under a different user?

The problem isn't the Message Board software. It's your browser or something else on your computer, maybe even one of Firefox's Add-ons. Try using Chrome or Edge to see if the problem exists there, too.

Please be sure to check "Log me in automatically each time" on the Log In page. Your problem has to do with your machine not properly saving the cookie file.

On my updated version of Firefox everything works normally. On my Windows machine and on my Mac, on all their browsers, on my iPad and my iPhone.

It might be the way you exit a post. Instead of using the 'back' arrow, try clicking "back to message board."
