Hora de ZIHesta

As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,136 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 79 that resulted in fatalities, 45 that are currently active, and 940 that have recovered. There are some minor discrepancies between local, state and federal numbers, but I believe it's mostly a question of confirming tests and matching up methodologies. Fudging the numbers serves no purpose to anyone here. Yes, we know because there is little random testing that actual numbers may be much higher, but the important fact is not the actual numbers but the current tendencies. Tracing and quarantining are being practiced.

Apparently some locals are still not respecting the wearing of facemasks, mostly younger people but also some of our elderly friends and neighbors that we see during their morning exercise walks. At this point there is no excuse and they are simply taking unnecessary risks. I am still encouraged by the number of people I see who are wearing facemasks and practicing social distancing. Many lodgings and restaurants contact me to be sure I know they have trained their personnel in the sanitary requirements of our "new reality". Restaurants are not using menus that people must handle. Tables and chairs are being rigorously cleaned. Nothing is left on tables between seatings. And hand sanitizer is offered almost everywhere. Tour guides also assure me they are ready to receive tourists. Feel free to contact any lodging or service listed on my website that you might want to utilize here and ask them what measures they are taking to protect folks from this pinche virus. I am confident you will be reassured by their replies.

Guide to Activities, Charters and Tours in Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa

The hottest time of the day is when we take our traditional siesta from 2 to 5. The afternoon meal and a little rest before going back to work. Not a time to call or visit so please don't. ;-)
