Medical travel insurance

I wanted to see if anyone has purchased medical expense travel insurance from US for travel to Zihua in the last three months? I was checking on coverage conditions for coronavirus related issues and at least one policy, though offering "corona" coverage, exclude it if a destination country has been noted as unsafe due to virus rates prior to the start of a planned visit.

I suspect, but don't know for sure, that Mexico in general and Guerrero would be deemed a high risk destination? Any info on this topic would be appreciated.

I recently purchased AIG Travel Insurance. 1-800-826-1300 We always buy from them, but have never had to use their services.

We received a letter from Westjet. A ticket purchased from them will give you Covid health insurance coverage while in Mexico but not the U.S.

This good for 3 week max so long term stays still require additional coverage. Some insurers in Canada have started to offer coverage. Manlike I believe is one of them but haven't confirmed that personally.

If the insurance was insurance you wouldn't get Covid I would be all in.
If you are infected while away you will not be allowed on a flight which enters Canada.
Big risk to take and it may end all future travel except your body returning to Canada.

On line,AIG says they do not write medical travel policies for residents of Alaska. WTF! I will try to get a policy as a Guerrero resident since I will be close to 50/50 if all goes well.

While living in Alaska, I always used AIG. Never a problem.

My sentiments entirely. We're also booked at the Miramar in January but expect we'll be cancelling.

Reluctantly, we have come to the same conclusion - NO international/plane travel for us for the foreseeable future. There are simply too many things that could go wrong as far as a traveler is concerned. Maybe mid to late next year, but who knows? :-(

Read the fine print from WestJet coverage. Pretty sure it is only valid for 21 days AND excludes coverage for countries where Canadian Government has a travel advisory.
