Disclaimer first, I am just going on coffee talk, but is there a decision to be made on on October 11 for status of keeping Orange status or Going to Red status in Zihua?

Every two weeks the state and federal health authorities and executive politicians meet to assess the situation. I've been predicting Guerrero will go to red because of the irresponsible activities of people celebrating the festivities for Día de la Independencia a couple of weeks ago, but it's just guesswork on my part. Most people I see in the streets are indeed practicing proper sanitary precautions. I've been to Acapulco several times these past couple of months, and I'm encouraged by what I see along the entire Costa Grande of Guerrero.

What is the maximum occupancy with code red. We plan on staying at a place with 8 units. Does that mean they can only rent out a certain per cent?

Apparently the previous rules have been scrapped, so we are currently in Semáforo Naranja but still operating as if we were in Amarillo. The rules are whatever the gobernador decides.

FYI, Most HOA's have imposed a 30% rental occupancy so as to comply with the same guidelines as Hotels. Owners are not restricted on occupying their own unit but are required to mask up as soon as they leave their unit.

What's an HOA?
Do occupancy regulations apply to private residences....in our case a place that has five rental apartments, in addition to the owner's residence?

Home Owners Association. A group of condo owners that set up the rules, regulations and fees for their own condos.

It has nothing to do with anything or anyone other than the owners of the condos in the condo buildings.

There are no regulations for private residences.

Aaah, I forgot: this is Mexico. I'd have thought the medical experts would make those decisions.

I realize it's not rocket science, but I have to admit I find the colour sequences confusing. Red/yellow/green makes sense, but Red/orange/yellow/green....or is it red/yellow/orange/green?

The medical experts advise the politicians who make their decisions based on the information they have, which include taking into account other factors. They are not playing politics. I believe they have been making the correct decisions so far. We are where we need to be, and our municipal governments are working to reduce the rate of transmission.

The colors are international standards. Not sure what confuses you.

In California, we have a level higher than red. That level is purple. Honestly, I don't try to keep track of the levels and their meanings. The simple truth is the virus is out of control in the United States and running wild, especially in the states where the majority had turned their backs on science. (I refuse to use the red versus blue moniker, as it just perpetuates the ever-growing divide that is tearing our country apart.) Our current Administration is now floating the idea of letting the virus run its course in order to achieve "herd immunity" while ignoring the possible consequence of over 2 to 3 million deaths in the process.

The reality is that everything is in a constant state of change and everything will pass away eventually. We may be seeing the disintegration of the most powerful nation in history right before our eyes. We have some close friends who have been asking me about moving and living in Mexico should the election not go as the polling is now indicating. I told them they would love it! (She speaks French so I assume she could pick up Spanish quickly.)

No, the Semáforo Naranja continues in effect albeit apparently modified because it seems like nothing has changed since we were under Semáforo Amarillo.

In contrast, Petatlán says it only took issuing about 10 fines before their citizens complied with the health protocols. In Zihuatanejo no fines exist for not observing health protocols. Election years in Zihuatanejo never see any laws implemented because the politicians don't want to offend anyone.
