As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,385 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 101 that have resulted in fatalities, approximately 1,150 that have recovered, and 50 that are currently active. Maybe that bump was a bit bigger than I first thought. Over 20 more cases than yesterday, but we must remember that these are because test results were confirmed, and I believe the period for receiving test results is still rather long due to logistics, so there is a bit of a lag time. From three weeks to two weeks ago Zihuatanejo registered a decline in new cases of -9.17 per 100,000 inhabitants. Not as good as our neighbors Petatlán and La Unión, but better than our neighbor Coyuca de Catalán.

I saw that our state government issued a new directive to the municipios to take stricter measures to contain and reduce the spread of the virus. I hope this translates into some concrete actions, because we're coming up on Día de Muertos, and bars are still open even though the panteones aren't. Restricting their hours would be a good start.

I have never once regretted giving up my life in the States to follow my heart and move here. As the song above says, we only live once, a philosophy my wife and I have always shared.

For those of you atrevidos enough to come weather out a few weeks or months of this pandemia here with us, you have my respect. I hope you'll take advantage of some of the services still operating and enjoy some of our guided tours and excursions.

In our 5 days being here we never encountered any behavior that was no different than what we experience in LA with regard to COVID safety precautions.

The economy may be on hold, pero la belleza de la gente y el entorno sigue.

I believe it was Bob Segar who sang ... seeing old friends is good for the soul!

Have a great day everyone and reconsider your return, it will be good for your soul!
