As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,485 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (1 more than yesterday), 110 that have resulted in fatalities, 9 that are currently active, and approximately 1,268 that have recovered.

Many Mexicans have been surprised at how slow, inefficient and backwards the U.S. electoral process is compared to our own. The archaic Electoral College aside. Many thought the USA's electoral process was more functional than it's turned out to be. In Mexico we historically have turnouts above 60%. Elections are held on a Sunday, all our voting is done by paper ballot, and except for 1988 when "the system went down", results for president have been known the same night. It's a model that the UN has copied and used in emerging democracies around the world including Afghanistan and Iraq. Early voting helped in some areas, but WTF happened in Nevada, Arizona and Georgia? I understand Pennsylvania was screwed up by GOP lawsuits, but come on, Nevada shouldn't take more than one day to count their votes.

¡Felicidades y mucha suerte a los estadounidenses!

Beginning Monday bars will have to close by 11PM. This is part of the effort in Guerrero to get to Semáforo Verde by Navidad. But they were making up for it last night and I expect more of the same tonight. No sleep until after 3AM for downtown residents thanks to that damn open air bar across from the zócalo.

An early morning stroll along the ciclopista by La Boquita canal.

I absolutely adore that Mexican grito that the mariachis do. I'm a tenor who has sung for many years and have even gotten paid on a few occasions and I have never been able to reproduce the grito.

Ay! Ay! Ay! Ayyyyyyyyyyyy!
