As of today Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,500 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (2 more than yesterday), 117 that have resulted in fatalities, 3 that are currently active, and approximately 1,279 that have recovered. The director of the Hospital General said this morning that there were currently no patients in the Covid-19 area. Definitely a good sign that we're doing something right.

Not a day goes by that I don't give thanks to be right here where I am in this little corner of the world seemingly far from the madness, stress and strife gripping so much of the rest of the world. We may not have much money but we are HAPPY in our tropical paradise. And I am more and more certain that I am the luckiest gringo in México. ;-)

Here in Zihuatanejo we are hoping Acapulco gets its act together so the state can go to Semáforo Amarillo or even Verde by next month. Not holding my breath for Verde.

Many fishermen are currently helping to clean the bottom of the bay, hoping to recover around 20 tons of garbage. Every little bit helps. Since we didn't have much rain this season there shouldn't be much from this year.

I hope many of you will plan to take at least one tour with some of the folks I recommend. They really need the business now if they're going to stay in business.

The local population is a bit over 100,000, so the numbers are roughly per 100,000.

In Guerrero the active cases are 7.4 per 100,000. Zihuatanejo's population is close enough to 100,000 that you can just translate it from the daily stats to somewhere between to 3 and 5. Remember, we don't do the widespread random testing that the USA does. So our stats aren't going to have the same weight yours do.

In La Unión there are currently no active cases. In Petatlán there is 1. In contrast Acapulco has 106. Chilpancingo has 55. Taxco has 1. And Iguala has 21.

Thanks for info. City of Denver is 91 per 100,000. My neighborhood is 3 per 1000. Granted we do more testing but I would say that Zihua is safer than Colorado. Be there in a few weeks, let's have a beer.
