As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,638 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (14 more than yesterday), 132 that have resulted in fatalities, 9 that are currently active, and approximately 1,390 that have recovered. There's some more of that spike we've been expecting.

Fortunately here in Guerrero the vaccine against Covid-19 will begin arriving next Tuesday. But because it's election season it seems anything that passes for a newspaper here is incapable of informing us of any details. I'll try to let you know what the timetable and distribution process look like as soon as they're made public.

I've been seeing more foreigners recently, especially in the evenings going to downtown restaurants. Thank goodness! Our restaurants really need the business. I wish I could say all were wearing facemasks, but many are is the best I can say. It's a matter of respect as much as hygiene at the moment to be seen wearing a facemask when walking among others on the streets.

If you feel like getting away from the madness and feeling some tropical warmth, you might as well pamper yourself while you're here. ;-)

I think this area looks better without ANY construction. Don't you?

Beautiful photo! And, yes it looks much better without construction! But, I fear the white lines are indicative of sad changes to come.

I have been watching the changes at Cancha Municipal...to me regardless of the outcome it is sad. I have always loved the simplicity of plaza...very unique...very Zihua! And I fear the beautiful La Ceiba tree is doomed! They have excavated/disrupted the roots...it now looks dead...at least from what I can tell from the video all of the leaves are brown. Every day I expect to see it has been cut down/removed.
