Coconuts closing for season

Just saw this on their fb page. States clising because of current situation...assume they are referring to Covid-19. Has there been a big spike?

No big spike. I suspect there haven't been many customers, probably because of the too loud music from the bar next door.

Hola
From what Ron told us, they are closing for lack of business. We go by there every night and there is only one or two people at the bar and maybe one or two in the patio. It is a far cry from last year when you had to go in the back door before they opened to get a seat at the bar.
PS We will be there on Friday for their closing.

Our normal group is down by over 400%. But some of us are still coming. The new testing requirement adds a hassle, but other than that, I don’t see why everyone is so freaked out. The numbers in the entire state of Guerrero are less per 100,000 than my state, Missouri, by quite a bit. So, I am pretty confident that the rates in Zihua are even lower. I am very concerned for all of the businesses suffering so much from the lack of tourists. I’ll be bringing extra money for more tips, trinkets and whatever.

Lupita happened to witness a large group just getting served the other night when extremely loud live "banda" music started playing next door making conversation impossible. The looks on their faces and the wait staff said it all. Not sure why they don't work it out with their neighbors whom I know are reasonable people. It certainly isn't helping their business, and they'll have the same problem whenever they reopen, if they ever do.

Are you implying the Narco Bar next door is extorting the business in the area ?

Please do not refer to my friend's restaurant as a "narco bar".

I am horribly sorry, the way you said it, "they will have the same problem wherever they go " gave me the impression of my wild dreams.

I apologize to you and your friends establishment.

That's so sad, they are one of our favorite restaurants. We were looking forward to dining there in March.

Hola
Just walked by Coconuts and it was very busy
Juanito Zihua was playing. Lots of people in the patio. I guess people have heard about their closure and saying farewell.

We'd been hoping against hope that things....airlines, borders, COVID, testing, quarantines, etc., etc.....would straighten out in time for us to get 5 or 6 weeks in Zihua before spring, but Coconuts closing for the season?
Deal-breaker.
See y'all in December, fingers crossed.

Ya’ll are over thinking this.
We arrived 9 days ago and plan on a 90 day retreat here in this marvelous community. The service industry is suffering but they are as welcoming and the best I’ve seen in 30+ years. Their Covid precautions are better than most of America.
I encourage fellow Gringos to come on down. The weather is perfect. Food can’t be beat. Peso is 19-1 and no civil war!

Excerpt from Z Rob's post--->

...... "I suspect there haven't been many customers, probably because of the too loud music from the bar next door."

Another fine restaurant on the esquina de V. Gro y la calle Ejido, Tamales y Atoles Any (Restaurantes Mexicanos Any), Zihuatanejo, is also victim of an obnoxious bar called OVERTIME. The diners at that restaurant get bombarded and blasted out, courtesy of the bar Overtime, across the street.

Not sure how the owner of the restaurant apparently tolerates that type of disrespectful rude disruption that people dining there must endure while trying to eat peacefully, since the bar Overtime has been there for many years.
