As of today, since April 18, 2020 Zihuatanejo has registered a cumulative total of 1,739 confirmed cases of Covid-19 (27 more than yesterday), 134 that have resulted in fatalities, 36 that are currently active, and approximately 1,454 that have recovered. The Christmas Holiday spike continues as predicted. Since I'm still not seeing any currently active cases from La Unión even though there have been at least 3 cases recently that I'm aware of, I can only guess they are being registered in Zihuatanejo where the tests are being taken and where at least two folks from Troncones are currently in one of our local hospitals, probably the Hospital General. I believe this is the highest the current active cases have been since the pandemia arrived. I suspect the bars are a major source of the spread of the virus as are the public transport combis and Urvans due to prolonged close contact among their customers. Almost everywhere else requires facemasks and social distancing or folks only have brief contact.

It felt a tad warmer today outdoors. Maybe just the humidity. Still good for snuggling at night. Still perfect weather!

Even though the sky looked like summer, the hillsides are losing their green and will soon be different shades of brown and copper.

You are correct in your assessment as to why people contact the virus when they ride the combis/Urvans because the drivers seem to be not enforcing masks and other 1.5 meter distance protocols. So sad that our community now has higher positive tests.

We have had a few positive in our office. None were spread to other employees, they all brought it from family gatherings. I was in a cubical briefly (only to drop off their bday lunch) of someone that found out a family member was positive. They also tested positive that day. No problem for me but we wear our masks at work and do our best to stay apart. With the holidays over, hopefully cases will go down.
