Covid Testing

Anybody know the telephone number of the lab in Ixtapa adjacent to the Holiday Inn? Or, are there any other labs in Z that do the rapid testing a day before flights? Thanks in advance.

I propose "Amerikans", but not "Amerikaners"
There, that should settle it...

Oh please! Not this assinine "we're all Americans" nonsense.

Canadian Americans?? You watch your tongue, fella: them's pretty insulting words. The only ones up here who are wannabe Americans are Albertans. The rest of us are quite satisfied to be just plain 'ol Canadians.

Perfect, so when Canadians compete in sports against Europeans, Africans or Asians we don't have to feel loyal here in the rest of America to support them as we normally would for any other American team. Got it. You prefer to stick with the historical (and rather arrogant) error than to be one of the Americans. Sad to see supposedly educated people behave this way.

I'm just shocked the Mr. Telephone, aka Rob, didn't step up to the plate for you with a telephone number by now. All he had to do was ask one of his many "friends".

Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me, but your question is answered in the "sticky" post at the top of the page. You were referred to it once yet still somehow missed what was right in front of you all this time. ¡Caray y caramba!

It may be cheaper to go to the airport - even with the taxis included.

Passengers: 579 MXN
Non passengers: 699 MXN

Yes, pricing is ridiculous for the rapid test in Ixtapa. And it is a mess at the airport the day of - unless you arrive super early and then go outside for a drink or something.

Although I don’t have the phone number for the lab next to the Holiday Inn, We are getting our tests tomorrow morning from them. The test is being done at our home. The cost $700 pesos, which is very reasonable in my opinion compared to the other options. Results in 15 minutes. I will post the phone number. When I scheduled our appointments I just showed up there not really knowing the deal. I’ll let you know how it all works out.

You could've called the Hotel Krystal whose number appeared in the info and they would have connected you, but thanks to very helpful people at both the Krystal and Holiday Inn hotels I got hold of the lab doing the testing and added their info to my Covid-19 Info Sheet at the top of the Message Board.

You'll notice the price appears to be coming down, so I doubt the original prices published by the ayuntamiento are still correct since they appear to be over 4 times what others are charging.

Just wondering how you made out with the Covid test in Ixtapa?

Covid Testing

by nicatnit, Sunday, February 14, 2021, 09:55 (10 days ago) @ karenanddick

Our Covid testing experience in Ixtapa went smoothly. Victor, the technician arrived on time. The service was professional and courteous. Took all of 15 minutes. He produced the test results in front of us and allowed us to snap a photo of the raw data, then about 1 hour later we received the official documentation. So we are very happy about the testing and the cost being 700 pesos was reasonable to not have to wait in suspense at the Airport. Another matter though is our flight back through Houston which was cancelled due to bad weather. Now that is whole other story. Hmmm do I stay or do I go?

Was the flight from Zihua to Houston cancelled or was it the Houston flight that was cancelled? Where was your final destination?

Covid Testing

by nicatnit, Sunday, February 14, 2021, 14:33 (10 days ago) @ karenanddick

Final destination South Bend but both the Zih to Houston and Houston to Chicago cancelled. Pretty much anything in and out of Houston is toast for now

Must had been the bad weather in Houston.

We are back in the US thankfully and here is an update about how our testing played out. Got the test at home in Ixtapa- negative result all good, but curiously all we had to do was check a box upon check in for our flight and that was it. The US government doesn’t really care about the results or they would have an enforcement mechanism in place. They don’t as far as we could see. Kinda sad to be honest to just pay lip service to the whole issue. But that’s the American way now I guess. I will say that I was impressed on how businesses and the Mexican government in general are approaching the Pandemic. More consistent than in the US.

Everybody is more consistent than the US! We all know who that came from, an fortunately he's gone! Given a little time, Joe will fix this!
