Yeah, I still don't think you're anything but lucky. Anyone who looks or acts like they have money is a target for extortionists and other criminals. I just don't believe you realize what's going on around you here.

Wow looks like you guys really know how to celebrate Valentines Day. I can feel the love!
Almost exactly what we did, except the second time we met her at the pre school where she worked. Then we met her father at the IMSS hospital where he was a doctor.
We had a car for a while, but sold it. We had it on a trickle charger during our absence and put gasoline preservative in the tank, but the injectors regularly plugged up. Taking cabs locally is quite inexpensive and for longer trips we hire a driver. That way we don't have to deal with crappy traffic and can enjoy the passing scenery. If interested, I can provide contact info for the guy we use. Perfect English.

TOTALLY DO-ABLE... One of my favourite things about Z is that it is a very compact area.
I've been here in "Z" for over TWENTY YEARS, WITHOUT a car.
Not only is it "liberating", e.g. from the expenses and other things related to owning a car, as a result I've probably walked THOUSANDS of miles = EXERCISE, and I've "enjoyed the scenery" doing so.
