I'm surprised no one mentioned this. We felt it pretty good here in downtown Zihuatanejo. It happened at the exact same time the ambulance drivers were carrying Raulito to his bedroom after arriving from their long drive (including a detour) from the hospital in Querétaro. We all pretended not to notice it. No one shouted ¡ESTÁ TEMBLANDO! and no one ran for the door as we usually would.

Didn't lose electricity, and the cat was at the vet's for sleep-over, so I'm not sure if he woke up. Weirdly, we could hear it coming for 1/2 minute or so before it hit - and the aftershock.

Nice welcome for your grandson!

That is something I've noticed about earthquakes here compared to SoCal. There is a distinct roaring noise maybe a second before the shaking starts. Every time I think "that was an unusually loud wave".

Maybe you don't hear it over the backwound noise of a city.
