Permanent Resident visa ...finalizing steps..questions

by Big Apple loves Z @, Thursday, October 07, 2021, 14:51 (14 days ago)

Hi All,
I have received my Permanent Resident visa from the Mex Consulate in the US.
The consulate attached the document/visa to my passport.
I have yet to return to Mexico.
I am still in the US and will be flying back for the first time with this document in a few weeks.

1. What forms do I fill out on the plane and what do I tell the immigration officer at Ixtapa airport?
2. Then I have to go to the NII and change my present visa ( the one the Mex consulate in the US attached to my passport).

Do I have to bring paperwork, photos...anything to the NII in Zihua for this step?

Appreciate any info!

There is nothing different to fill out on the plane, just do the forms as you usually do.

What ever documents you presented to the consulate in the US should be in the Mexican data base by now. I would not rely on it though. Bring the same documentation you presented at the consulate with you just in case. Rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Immigration office here can take hours so be prepared for killing most of a day there.

Welcome to Zihutanejo.

When you pass thru immigration at the airport don't forget to have the Mexican visa in your passport stamped. Also they take pictures at the immigration office. Get there early too, it can take hours to process plus a trip to the bank. Fill out the FMM on the plane.
We went thru the process in May and our neighbors went thru the process yesterday.

Do NOT fill in any forms when you fly in!!!!!!!!!

If you do, you can totally screw up the paperwork you have already completed. I'm sure that was explained to you in great detail when you did the paperwork you did.

When you arrive, smile, show the paperwork that has already been given to you. The customs officials will be thrilled to see you, welcome you here, and send you on your way. Use the line for Mexican Nationals, or whatever it is called. The very very short one!

Next stop, INM in town, I think you have 30 days.

It wouldn't hurt to get photos, they are cheap, easy at any photography place, just tell them, or show them them the paperwork you have. They will also welcome you to Mexico!

And from us, WELCOME TO MEXICO!!! Congratulations on getting your residency!!! Just go to IMS, relax, it won't take long, it takes longer to go to the bank and pay the fees.

if you end up at the Ixtapa airport, you made a wrong turn. Bring a book when you go to Immigracion and arrive @ 8:45 am minutes before they open, you will be served quickly.
