Forms at airport and custom lines

Just have a question- someone I work with just returned from Cabo San Lucas and she said the lines were extremely long at the airport and there are extra forms to fill out and that you need to be at the airport for sure at least 3 hours prior to your flight, she said they were boarding when she got to her gate. All comments are definately appreciated. thanks!

We flew from Montreal to CDMX to Zihua last week-end, just filled in the usual immigration form, but also the online COVID form on our phone to get a QR code.
More information here : CNN

Link to the form to get the QR code : https://www.vuelaseguro.com/login

You can create your account in advance, and fill in the form either a few hours before (8 hours maybe?). The lines we’ve seen in CDMX were people trying to do that on their phone, my wife and I just went by presenting our QR code and that was all….

Just note that I tried filling in the English version of the form, and was not able to enter my birth date - I tried all the format - so I switched to the Spanish version of the form where they just ask for your age (edad) and that was done ????????

Did both you and your wife need to make separate accounts to fill out the questionnaires?

You can fill out the health questionnaire 12 hours before arriving in Mexico. At the bottom of the form, there's an "Add Companion" option. When we went through Customs and Immigration in Mexico City, we were not asked to show the QR code.

If I read the poster's concern correctly, the issue is long lines at the airport when one is leaving Mexico for the US. I'm not familiar with the Cabo airport but I've not heard of passengers being delayed at ZIH. As long as you have a negative Covid test within 72 hours, results in hand and/or uploaded to your airline's website before departure, all should be fine.

The only reason I can think of for a backlog of passengers in Cabo is if they had their Covid tests done at the airport and they didn't get the results back within the time they had to make the flight. Get the Covid test at one of the many labs in Zihuatanejo that Rob has listed above the comments section.

I really, really hope everyone in your party is fully vaccinated by now. One infected person in close quarters will make the vacation "memorable" in a really, really bad way.

My wife and I traveled to 'Z', Cozumel and Cabo this year, Cabo was terrible. The long line was when we arrived, just not enough Customs folks at the red light green light station. There was a new COVID form, but we were able to fill it out while in this long line.
'Z' in Feb and Cozumel in June seemed about normal for Mexico.

We are using American Airlines to come into Zihuatanejo soon. They sent us that link and were pretty insistent we pay attention to getting the QR code before we fly. We flew into Morelia last spring and needed to do the paper form (as did everyone else) and it was a headache. I will have a QR code if that bypasses the chaos of everyone filling out forms before you can enter the terminal. Nothing says avoiding Covid like 150 people crowded together looking for pens and a place to fill out an unfamiliar form attesting you aren’t a spreader.

@Fran, a link to QR code form?
I haven't received anything with a link to fill out a form and receiving a QR code. Only a link to the Mexican C&I forms. Did get another for the return forms to fill out and print.

The email from American directed me to this link:

I looked at it but you have to complete it quite close to leaving so I make no claim that it delivers the QR code or that the QR code works.

But I’ll be trying it when our window comes up.
