Health authorities report only 5 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo today. While we've been here before, there is reason to be optimistic as more people than ever are now vaccinated.

Didn't see a cloud in the sky until almost sunset time, and then very few. My how abruptly our rainy season comes to an end. While I know to those coming from cold dry climates think it's hot and humid here, I found today comfortably warm and last night to be cool enough to sleep under a sheet. The ocean temps should be changing and cooling soon, and our overnight temps will become more comfortable for our visitors though a bit chilly for us.

Now that Troncones has apparently been discovered by our state politicians in charge of tourism, it is threatened by the same rapacious avarice that commonly occurs in tourist communities. Let's all hope its community leaders can muster the support of its residents to prevent losing the ambience and identity of a laid-back nature-loving small community that they've worked so hard to cultivate. Now's the best time to enjoy Troncones for what it is before the big hotels and projects start appearing there, ruining a beautiful thing.

Besides several fishermen, there were quite a few tourists on the downtown beach this morning enjoying the beauty of the sunrise over Zihuatanejo's bay. From what I saw they were not disappointed.
