Health authorities report there are currently only 6 active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo.

Once again this morning when we got to the beach to walk our dogs, I noticed a nest of tortugas had hatched, and by their tracks it was obvious that ALMOST EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM WENT IN THE WRONG DIRECTION, towards the Paseo remodelado. Hopefully passersby helped them reach the water because very few of the tracks returned from the Paseo. I found two tortuguitas that were apparently the last ones to hatch and set them on the edge of the water so they could swim away, hopefully to return one day. This is a serious problem created by the current municipal administration. We never saw baby turtles that hatched on Playa Principal do this before, and the people responsible need to fix it. For starters the Paseo is WAYYYY too bright. The bright lights coupled with the lighting underneath the planters is a potential death sentence for turtle hatchlings without human intervention. Unfortunately after what they did to the iconic tall palm trees along our waterfront, I don't expect the municipal office of Ecología to take any positive action. I would love for them to prove me wrong.

Another day of perfect weather. Warm and humid. Like yesterday, it looked like it might rain this evening, but so far nothing.
