I must be hanging out in the wrong areas. Has anybody noticed a more visible presence from the Fiscalia General around Zihuatanejo? They have really nice armas de fuego.

Sounds like someone's about to get busted, or else the Guardia Nacional is short-staffed and they're filling in. The federal government in coordination with the state is trying to protect the villages in the sierra around Zihuaquio as well as the autopista through the Tierra Caliente and along the Costa Grande. A daunting task considering what they're up against.

They also breeze through town periodically looking for stolen cars. You'll see them walking down streets with clipboards checking the VIN numbers on people's dashboards.

I have to say all my encounters and dealings with the Fiscalia General and the Guardia Nacional have been very amicable and professional. There are pockets of corruption in every bureaucracy. There are some good people in these organizations.
