CFE requirements ?

by Casa Juan @, Tuesday, May 24, 2022, 10:21 (43 days ago)

Does anyone know if a person with a CFE account needs to take any action before June 30, 2022 if CFE already has the account holders RFC? Gracias!

Do you know something we don't know? Didn't have RFC's when we set up with CFE and have heard nothing about new requirements.

OK, I just went into our account and there was a notice about what you said above. Wonder if we can add it online?

I just queried them through their website, and hopefully will get an answer.

I didn't receive any notification, but then again I've had my RFC registered with them since forever.

I just spent some time learning about all of this. RFC's are going to be required for lots of things starting this year. No big deal, EXCEPT that getting an appointment to get one may take a long time.

I went to the website to make an appointment and was put in the "virtual line" and supposedly will receive an email when an appointment is available.

Will this be before June 30? Doubt it, and hopefully since lots of people will be in this position CFE won't start shutting off electricity! :stirpot:

I just read yesterday on Surviving Yucatan that people are traveling from Merida to Tabasco to register with SAT because of the 3-4 month wait.

This is all very weird. I'v been reading about it as well on other sites. Seems to apply to residents.
However there are plenty of non-residents in my condo building that I'm quite certain have CFE and MegaCable accounts in their own names. From what I know they won't even qualify for an RFC number. I have one- got it last year when I assumed I was going to be a landlord responsible for paying my own taxes on rental income.

well of course that was one of the first videos I watched a few days ago and it struck me as alarmist and generalist and mostly designed to increase his Patreon membership.
I don't think it gets at the questions that linger in my mind

Wife and I are in the virtual line. It's kinda like buying tickets to Comic-Con.

I doubt CFE is going to start going around cutting people off because they don't have a number; that would be kind of counterproductive. It may impact people getting a new hookup though.

Since 2020, I've bought a house, a new car, electricity, cable & Internet, paid my taxes, opened a bank account and got a driver's license all without ever being asked for an RFC.

Is the SAT so unreasonable that it is going to act as if this is something they can just flip a switch? From a logistical standpoint, that just isn't possible.

That guy in the video does tend to be a bit hyperbolic. He was the one a few months ago talking about the residents on tourist visas being denied entry, and that seems to have died down.
