State health authorities for Guerrero report NO currently active cases of Covid-19 along the entire Costa Grande. A total of 30 currently active cases are reported for the entire state.

The mar de fondo is predicted to intensify this weekend. If you live on the waterfront of plan to go swimming be careful of the waves and currents.

Nothing new to report regarding our current situation. Life goes on more normal than not for most folks here as well as for our visitors. As I commented yesterday, folks here are simply hunkering down and either not opening their businesses or only opening for limited hours. Most schools were closed today, and although our tourism officials claim there have been no cancellations, it's only because most tourists haven't a clue what's going on. I see many potential visitors asking questions on the social media, and I've received many inquiries that I've tried to answer, and I have no doubt some folks will prefer to go elsewhere until our businesses feel safe enough to open back up again. Locals are anxious and their anxiety is noticeable. But I'm confident we'll get through this fine. We even made national news.

It rained again last night. Not heavy, but enough that the plants noticed and it was a bit cool this morning. Great sleeping weather. Hope this continues.

If you want to be front and center on Playa La Ropa, a couple of wonderful beachfront lodgings are Casa Gloria María and Bungalows Vepao, next door to each other on the beach.

I gotta ask: I see a lot of bands with Sonora in the name. Can I assume that Sonora (something) is a particular style of music? I like it a lot, especially Sonora Dinamita, though I find the flashy costumes and very tight choreography quite a bit over-the-top. And how can women wear, much less dance, in those five inch stillettos? How can they even walk the next day?

"Sonoro/a" means sonorous, but it's generally associated with bands that play a type of music called cumbia, a favorite type of music locally.

Mi gusta cumbia! Before I moved here I read an excellent book on modern Mexican music. The gist of it was the Mexican music, while having several categories, is also characterized by the crossing of boundaries in their influence.
