is anyone else experiencing the bad smell? I thought I needed to clean out the kitchen drain but my son pointed out it was the actual water from the tap

You should check your tinaco and cistern to see if something got into it and died. Our water has no odd odors.

we checked the tinaco, lid is on, all secure and no access to the well for something to get in there, it has a concrete lid that is so heavy it takes 2 people to open it, thanks again though

If you're using well water you should still open it up to see if something got inside.

if anything got inside it's tiny! A neighbour advised me to get chlorine pellets for cistern which I did today and dropped one in. The foul odour is gone now, so happy.

thank you

A well in an earthquake zone is always prone to fractures. And mice can get into just about anywhere. Before writing off the problem because of chlorine tablets, I recommend a more thorough inspection. But now, is it a cistern or a well?
