Snorkeling in Troncones

This is my third trip to the zihua/ixtapa area, I have heard that there is good snorkeling in Troncones. Any advice of where in Troncones, the part of the beach that I would be able to do so. Thanks.

I have seen people snorkeling in Manzanillo Bay - between the point and Inn at Manzanillo Bay. Not sure what they see. There might be good snorkeling a little north in Majahua.

What happened to the video of the sharks at Troncones I've try to look at it today and can't find it.

I think it was removed to protect the interests of the local inns and beach establishments. Heard reports that reservations were canceled after viewing. We have been here a while swimming and surfing - no worries & no sharks!

Censoring the video

I sure as hell am disappointed that lodging and tourist service operators at Troncones put their pocketbooks before public safety.

If there is nothing to worry about then THAT'S WHAT THIS FORUM IS FOR! Information, not censorship, builds trust and confidence. Potential visitors should have the right to be informed and make informed decisions about their safety.

If lodging and tourist service operators in Troncones believe sharks in the shallows of Playa Manzanillo do not represent any additional risk for their potential clients then they should have the decency and good sense to explain their point of view. But to pressure Ernie to remove the video looks a lot like they value their money more than they value public safety, and I find that an irresponsible and despicable attitude to take.

Truth is if you want good snorkeling go to the Yucatan side of Mexico. Troncones is best for surfing so the waves can impact visibility. People do it......but don't expect the Carribean experience.

Not sure where you would have heard that. There is no good snorkeling at Troncones. Try either playa de coral on isla de Ixtapa or play manzanillo out of Zihua. Both are quite nice but, as pointed out, not nearly as nice as the Yucatan side.
