Patzcuaro

We had a group of 6 that travelled by Parhikuni bus from Zihua to Morelia. Jaime picked us up in Morelia and drove us to see the butterfly sanctuary and some surrounding towns and artisans, both on the way to El Rosario and returning to Patzcuaro a couple of days later. All along the way, he filled us with history, both indigenous and spanish, cultural customs, current political and economic situation and lots of good humor. He lives in Patz, and he took us to Santa Clara de Cobre, the mask makers, and some other artisans in the area. Cost for the butterfly trip was based on a per day charge, while the area around Patz was per hour. Very reasonable rates but even moreso, given we were splitting the cost 3 ways.
