A brief update on the status of Blue Morpho EcoTours...

by Hunter-MX ⌂ @, Troncones, Gro. Mexico, Monday, March 26, 2012, 19:31 (425 days ago)

I figure it was born here so it should go here to die as well...

I am closing the operation as it has existed in the past. Of course I will still be actively looking for solutions to the "problems". Is this permanent or temporary? Only time will tell, but it most certainly is for this season. Let's see what transpires between now and next October.

I will offer limited tours here in the Troncones area. Mostly focused on the amazing birding that is available to us. If you are interested feel free to contact me.

I am in pretty desperate need of selling my 1994 Chevy Suburban and getting a smaller more economical car or pick up truck. The Suburban is 28,500p (asking price) and I am looking for a smaller vehicle in the 25,000 to 35,000p price range. If you know someone for either PLEASE contact me. Or if someone wants to sell a vehicle on reasonable payments I am open to that as well.

As evidenced below, I am falling back on my profession to help support my family. Website design, logos, flyers etc. As well as limited photography. Look for some exciting new websites coming soon. One for a fantastic little Inn in Morelia and the other for an excellent brand of Tequila.

So sorry to bore you with my stuff, but some folks are interested and there is a bit of a plea for help here as well.

THANK YOU all who have supported me, both through business and friendship. I appreciate it, and my family appreciates it, more then you will ever know.

Oh, and did I mention calendars? ;-)

Wil -- I'm sorry the situation -- the "problems" -- has gotten to the point where it's really hurting good people like you.
Sally and I were so looking forward to seeing you in Feb., but we'll just think of it as a raincheck!
Best of luck w/ the ramping up of your design/photog. business.

Sorry to see you cave in. I thought you were the best thing that ever happened to "guided tours" in our region. I'm still here doing what I do because I REFUSED to cave in. I wish my example had been more inspiring for you.

Maybe I can send some webwork your way.

Sorry to see that you think of it as caving. Please, and I am being sincere, don't pass judgement on me without the facts Rob. You don't have the story and I doubt you ever will.

Perhaps when you see some of my new design work you will send me some business, thanks. And more important that you for letting me get myself started here a couple of years ago.

It was my opinion, not judgement I was expressing. Since I understand both English and Spanish, the only reason I may not have the story is if you are unwilling to tell it.

I am assuming you are a Mexican National so why not apply for a taxi license?

Thanks for the suggestion Tony, I am not Nationalized however. Even if I was it is still not an option. There is more to it all then just that.

Put Blue Eco Tours in your wife's name. Register it, do whatever you have to do to make it legit to the Mexican laws. You've got a good thing going, don't throw in the towel just quite yet?

Thanks Zmon. The company itself is legal. Taxes paid, registered etc. The issues are licensing of the vehicle, the age of the vehicle and the gov't's inability to follow through on their promise of classes. And that's just the easy parts. Even if all that were fixed, and we would be talking 150,000 pesos or more, even tour guides with licensed vehicles are harassed by the taxis. It is a long and tangled situation...

Bummer! Can you hire a taxi to take you and your guests on a tour so you don't have to use your own rig? Personally I have hired many taxi's to take me on a tour to where I want to go without any ill effects. Beats the heck out of sitting on a bus doing the same tour.

We had a wonderful time on your tour to the Waterfalls in January. It was made more special that your wife and daughter were along to deliver gifts to the children and families of the village. We felt privileged to be part of that experience and to see the sparkle in every child's eyes. The hike, lunch and information cannot be described. You provided us with a glimpse of Mexico that few can experience. Sorry that you are not able to go forward with the tours. (However, for a while did get some jitters when the taxi driver did not take us to the meeting spot until we questioned him our limited Spanish.) Best for your future plans.
