where to be in Barra de Potosi

We have visited the Z area 5-6 times and are returning for 2 weeks in November. We have everything booked
except 4 days for Barra de Postosi. What area of the lagoon should we be sleeping in for easy snorkeling and other
adventure options, walking to beach side food options, and safe ocean swimming. Thanks for the ideas and
stay happy.

In your research whatever looks good for you from Barra de Potosi to Playa Blanca or even Playa Larga. You won't be too far from anything.

Now that I think about it, walking from Playa Larga may be too much.

Not sure you swim in the lagoon -- maybe only at the very opening to
the ocean? I swim in ocean front of restaurants -- there is a bit
of current, but lovely clear water!

But make sure you shuffle your feet.

One should ALWAYS shuffle one's feet in the ocean. Never step down.

There are several excellent lodgings in Barra de Potosí, all offering different flavors of incredible tranquility. I imagine you'll want to be within walking distance of the village, so have a look at the following:

Villa Don Manuel

Bernie's Bed and Breakfast (Playa Calli)

Our House

Casa Puesta del Sol

Casa del Encanto

As one who has wintered in Barra many times I can say that every place mentioned here has its own unique offering, and all are nice spots. And I've not stayed at any of them. I think that Laura's place will give you the best chance for the village experience.

Why you don't have a look at:

Villas-Tuparaiso

A a delightful spot within the village with a fully-screened porch, so you don't have to worry about the mosquitos!

Laura's Casa Del Encanto in the village will give you real village feel...head across the street to Dona Emy's for wonderful tacos and the best consomme.
Our House b&b is located about 7 minute walk from La Condessa and the other enramadas. We've stayed at Laura's several times and had breakfast with Cecil at Our House several times. Don't think you'd want to be much further down the beach than Solecito.

Laura's place hands down. Great ambiance and the best linens in Zihua!

Re walk from Solecito. Depends on the individual. Used to do it once or twice a day but now in 8th decade of life I would still stay there and take taxis, pasajeras, hitchhike, etc to village.

That fully screened porch is very nice and very important! But I am a mosquito magnet.

Ditto. There's something about the sound of the surf hitting the beach! And, the digs are pretty darn nice!

The number of hammocks at La Condessa has dwindled significantly since the big storm last year. Simply not enough posts left to hang very many on. Unless, of course, they have extended back out to where they were before the storm. But in March, they had not.
