Mexican Duty Related Question

I will be flying into Zihuatanejo from the US and would like to bring a few pieces of Mexican artwork with me that I plan to leave at our house in Z. Does anyone know if these pieces of artwork would be exempt from duties since they originated from Mexico? I read the list of exempt items here and it definitely doesn't mention repatriated Mexican artwork. I will be traveling on an FMT tourist card and I do not plan on getting an FM3 at this time. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone can recommend a customs broker that specializes in the service of assisting individuals on small scale importing needs I would love to talk to them as I imagine this will likely be an ongoing issue for me. Thanks in advance.

There might be other sources for this information, but you might consider checking with the nearest Mexican consulate.

For those interested, I ended up getting to the bottom of this. I will, in fact, be responsible for paying a 1% import tax along with a 16% value added tax in order to bring the mexican artwork back into the country.

For the things I take into Mexico, I have to pay 17% on goods over the $300 limit. Sounds like you are doing about the same thing on something that you got in Mexico to begin with. (I think that is where you said you got the art).
