Can anyone recommend a good place to go?

For snorkeling: the bay side of the reef at Las Gatas or Playa Coral on Ixtapa Island. For the latter I'd suggest a few hours of fishing enroute to the island and then having El Indio cook some of your catch while you snorkel. We go with Guillermo Arciniega on the Don William. The lagoon at La Barra is a great place to kayak.

Thanks, heard Las Gatas was a good place to go. How about transportation?

Las Gatas is OK for snorkeling but I find Playa de Coral on Ixtapa island much better.

Thanks. Is there lots to do at Ixtapa Island if not snorkling?

Eat, drink, relax, swim, walk the trails. Not sure if there are people for hire for water skiing but a lot of people do it on the side where the boat lands you.

Transportation to Las Gatas: take the water taxi from the municipal pier. 40.00 Pesos round trip. Get your ticket at the white building on your left at the base of the pier. To the island: as previously suggested.
