Don't know about renting Playa Blanca. However, Barra de Potosi is unique in itself. You go there for peace, quiet, swimming, 10 mile beach walk on the best beaches in southern Mexico and maybe a local fishing trip. Thats it. There are several Enramada beachfront restaurants that serve mostly fresh fish items. It is where you hangout all day swimming, eating, sleeping and drinking.. One or two sometimes are open for breakfast. Most close about 6:00pm. You are on your own for the evening. No shopping, stores except for a Mexican 7/11 for beer and snacks. Closest food shopping is in Los Achotes (main highway turn off to Barra). An 8 paso trip in the back of a pickup with benches. Two small shops for basic fruit and veges and a bbq chichen stand (our local KFC). Meat and other items in Zih. You can sometimes buy fresh fish on the beach at Barra from the local fishermen. Bus ride from Los Achotes to Zih is every 5 minutes for 10 pasos. There is now a two taxi stand in Barra and about 200 paso to Zih.
It is not your Zih/Ixtapa environment. Just a small layed back fishing village with a few B & Bs in the village and up the beach. My wife and I like it enough that we live full time just 1 1/2 miles up the beach.
