Wow! For a first trip to Zihuatanejo which happened to be our honeymoon, my husband and I were not disappointed.
Amuleto is a dream! Of course the view is the attraction. You will not be disappointed! The mexican/indonesian design is perfect for the environment. The bathroom was outdoors; rooms have ac which we used. We booked room with an infinity-pool...wow! Really felt like we were in our own little eden which was helped by the fact we were the only people staying at the time. The staff is very sweet and professional. The food was decent-breakfast was tasty and filling. For dinner, the fish entrees were better tasting than most everything else. The dinner rolls are yummy.
After 2 nights at amuleto, we went to VDS for 5. It is worth all the praise heaped upon it (and the cost fronted for it). We wanted to splurge for the honeymoon and boy did we. With an infinity-pool in the room and the gorgeous playa la ropa a few steps a way, we were in heaven. The staff is friendly and unobtrusive. The food is AMAZING! Even if you don't stay here make a reservation at La Cantina. Our taste buds were sated til the next day after dinner there-two of our dishes were a seafood enchilada and ahi filet worthy of the gods.
Zihua was the perfect town. Friendly people, easy vibe, very affordable and great food. We had pozole and tamales at " Tamales y atoles Any Restaurant". Soooo good. Needless to say we ate quite well in Zihua.
It was the perfect honeymoon destination! We'll def come back what with 90 degree days and 80 degree crystal-clear water!
