One visitor sent me this photo of what he found in his room at Bungalow Loma at Playa La Ropa:
Tarantula at Bungalow Loma
You will definitely see geckos: small lizards that eat lots of insects. They do not bite and are very beneficial.
We do have scorpions, though I highly doubt you'll ever see one. But as precaution you should always shake out folded clothing, towels and shoes before using them.
Buy some liquid AUTAN at any local store here. That is the best insect repellent for our mosquitos and no-see-ums. If your bedroom has a fan instead of A/C keeping it on will reduce the incidence of mosquitos in your room, and use the mosquito net if you are staying at one of our more rustic lodgings without screened windows and doors or A/C.
