We just got back from Ixtapa-Zihua and had a great time!!! First time to that area and just loved it! Stayed at the Riviera Beach Resort and really enjoyed the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The beds were hard is my only complaint. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet or you can order off the menu. Not too large or too small. Never had anyone try to sell timeshares at this hotel. Never had problem getting beach chair in the morning. Though by mid morning, most were gone!!!
As we were on Apple charter, we took their bus in to Ixtapa from the airport, but we took a taxi back to the airport. Only $9 pesos.
Husband golfed 5 out of 7 days. He preferred the Palma Real over the Marina course. Hotel gives discount coupons!!! The golf carts are a bit iffy at either place!!!! Saw several crocidiles!!
Had drinks and appetizer at Casa Canta? Very good! A wonderful view. Had dinner at Kau Kan (lobster special - wonderful!!). Great view, also!! Ate at Anatoles y tamales in Zihua (dinner for 4 with margaritas was $44 pesos. Very humid and hot the night we went. Good authentic food!!! Waiters spoke very good English. Brother in law ate at Mama Norma's twice in Ixtapa. Very good and inexpensive!! Ate also at the marina in Ixtapa-- Beccofino's (lobster special), Bucanero's (coconut shrimp). Kau Kan (lobster special). All were great!!!! Walked to La Perla and had dinner by the water. Men got grilled lobster and we had fish filets! Very inexpensive. Friend with us got Cuban cigars. Best price he found in the area!!!
Took taxi to Playa Linda and then water taxi to Isla Ixtapa. Just relaxed and watched all the people snorkeling at Coral Beach. Go there early in morning before the tour crowds get there!!! They offer lunch, but we didn't partake. Just had beverages!!!!
Two guys we met went fishing on Santos II (panga) and got two sailfish. One was 5 1/2 feet and the other was 9 1/2 feet!!! They arranged their trip through a waiter at Bucaneros.
Loved the beach for walking during the day. It is lighted at night in Ixtapa!!! The waves were very strong and had black flags out for 3 days. Also, has a strong undertow!!!
Thanks for all of the info from this message board. It was really helpful!!!! Gracias!!!
