Janice, I would not expect to hear back from the Villa Mexicana any too soon and, when you do, they will probably tell you they cannot guarantee you a certain room. I am speaking from experience as prior to our vacation there in March, we contacted the Villa on a couple of occasions to confirm we were booked in a deluxe upper level ocean view room. We had reserved/made arrangements through our travel agent in June 2000. Fortunately, we have a super travel agent who contacted the Villa numerous times via e-mail and faxes and also confirmed information with Mexico Unlimited who our travel agent coordinates reservations at the Villa with. Also, FYI, this was our 2nd stay at the Villa and both experiences have been wonderful. As we plan to return for three weeks next March, we inquired at the reception desk at the time we checked out regarding making reservations for next March. We were told it is far better to make reservations through a travel agent for two will wind up paying less and your reservations are "safer" through the agent. Things are just done differently in Mexico and that is just the way it is. Visitors learn along the way the best ways to assure their vacation will be all that they hoped. If this is your first trip to Zihuatanejo you will surely fall in love with it. If this is not your first trip, you have already fallen in love with it. The Mexican people are wonderful...hard working and have a great outlook on life. Zihuat is especially wonderful because although it is becoming more and more popular it seems, it is nothing compared to the hustle bustle in places like Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, etc. Hope this info is helpful to you. Gwen
