Just back from 2 weeks in Ixtapa. Was our 5th time at the Barcelo. Weather was great 90 at daytime 72 at night and little humidity. Only complaint was the weekends now bring busloads of folks from Mexico City. What was once a peacefull and adult first two weeks of Dec., now the weekends are swimming pool full of small children, some of which are babies, naked laying on the swim up bar. It was not just this hotel, they all seem to be trying to take advantage of making an extra buck on the weekends. Would have been fine if they would have kept the kids out of the swim up bar area, but that was not the case. Ate at Villa de la Selva 4 times and it is always good. Tried Kau Kan this time and the food was great, the view was great, but the service is not as good as Villa de la Selva. Had to ask for water and a refill and waiter disapeared for 10 minutes at a time. Watched the sun go down at Laperla rest. one night which was good and then stayed to see the lights of the city come on. Three of four dinners were dissapointed with their meals, the fish of the day in the bag was not good at all and only a few bites were taken. Went to Bogarts twice and asked for the special menu, which most people don't know about. For 295 pesos each you get a drink of your choice, then salad tableside or 2 kinds of soup then choice of 4 entrees, red snapper, chicken stuffed with lobster, filet mignon, etc., then bananas sigapore, tableside. A bargain. More then a few people said that Shanon Dougherty was at Franks about 4 days after Thanksgiving. Was told that La Madera rest. was no longer open. Also ate at Beccofinno"s and the meal was excellent. The Arristos Hotel is completely down now and the new BVG building will be starting to go up soon. Half Hotel and half condos. bvg.com.mx Three bedroom model is open now but big bucks. Went and visited the Melia Azul. It was awsome, but like some have said the beach is not as good as at el palamar. Barcelo was paying 10.5 for exchange rate, Melia was 11.0 See you next year.
