Things to See & Do:
* Day trip to Las Gatas Beach.
Catch the water taxi across the harbor from the main dock in Zihuatanejo. Take snorkeling gear and settle in at the restaurant with red tablecloths near the far end of the beach from where the water taxi drops you off.
* Day trip to La Barra de Potosi
Experience the nine mile long, nearly deserted beach. Take a taxi and arrange in advance for afternoon pickup. Expect the opposite extreme vs Casa Que Canta - rustic, no-frills beachside restaurants + nearly deserted beach. Maybe ride horses on the beach or rent a kayak/etc. to explore the lagoon complex.
* Golf at either of the two courses in Ixtapa
* Hire a boat to go fishing or afternoon picnic / snorkeling adventure at the nearly pristine small beach outside and just south of the Zihuatanejo harbor entrance.
* La Ropa Beach
Walk down the steep road just south of Casa Que Canta's property, then down the steps onto the beach. Plop down under a palapa at Paty's restaurant with a book. Have lunch, maybe rent a catamaran to explore the harbor (the waiter will watch your stuff).
* Ixtapa Beach
Check out the big, open ocean beach at Ixtapa. A $4 cab ride each way. Walk the big beach, show your beloved how well you can handle a jetski while checking out the offshore islands, wander the upscale resort shops. Then, decide whether to stay in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo on your next visit.

Romantic Eateries:
* Villa Vera (former Puerto Mio)
Enjoy their magic little cove across the harbor, on the north shore of the harbor entrance.
* Villa de la Roca
Small B&B on the cliff just south of Casa Que Canta; entrance is off the steep road down to La Ropa beach. See if Martha can fit you in for dinner with her house guests. Fixed price (expensive) evening includes drinks. Great views, actually overlooks Casa Que Canta and the harbor. Very intimate, family-style.
* Villa de la Selva
Located on top of the hill just south of Ixtapa beach. Fantastic sunset views; five star ambiance.
* El Faro
Also located on the hill south of Ixtapa. Panoramic view of Ixtapa from on high. Great food and view from on high.
* Patys
Best food right on La Ropa beach. Sit at a table on the beach with bare feet in warm sand, light surf swishing ashore just yards away, balmy breeze, and the lights of Zihuatanejo twinkling across the harbor. Her Tortilla Soup, Red Snapper Veracruse, Ceviche, and Coconut Ice Cream are to die for.
* Casa Bahia
Located near Villa Vera (Puerto Mio), some of the best food in town. View across the bay looking back at Casa Que Canta.
* Marina Ixtapa
Walk down restaurant row at the far north end of Ixtapa resort and pick your spot. Then enjoy a well-prepared meal in view of big yachts in the marina. Pick a cooler night - not much breeze.

These are our upscale picks that have both great food and ambiance. Many others at other price points offer great food - from the rustic but very tasty "Los Braseros" to "Gondwana" indian food in downtown Zihuatanejo or Puesta del Sol and El Mare, both on the cliffside road within easy walking distance of Casa Que Canta - follow the road north.
