A couple of things worth mentioning that have been reported this week.
First, the Garibo Vargas family last week made public evidence that the allegedly bogus property title that Interad is showing to authorities shows the address of the land as "Lotes 31, 32, 33 y 34 de Playa Blanca" in the municipio of "José Azueta" (Zihuatanejo de Azueta's former name which would be valid for legal purposes).
Now I'm not sure where those lot numbers are, but I do believe that no "autoridad competente" could possibly mistake the fact that el Cerro de Guamilule is located in the municipio of Petatlán. In other words, they are showing a property title for a different property entirely, yet somehow the local justice system and other "autoridades competentes" are overlooking this little detail, which is usually a pretty good sign of the presence of corruption.
AND the official record of any payment of back taxes that supposedly allowed Interad to "acquire title" to the property is apparently missing. Hmmm... Possibly the outgoing mayor knows where it went...
But the best news is that due to ongoing investigations of the pre-Hispanic culture that apparently thrived in the region surrounding La Soledad de Maciel and extends to el Cerro de Guamilule, the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) has declared the area an archaeological zone, thus protecting it for now until investigations either discover something of archaeological value or discard it as having any. So if Interad alters anything they can be fined a million pesos per square meter.
Power to the people, right on!
