We changed our Verizon Plan to the $59.99 North America's choice plan before we left the U.S. on Jan. 3. This plan worked just like we were told it would by Verizon even though our phone really showed we were in a roaming area. The monthly charge covered all phone calls we made(without a .69/minute extra charge for roaming) while in Ixtapa. We did not sit on the beach talking on the cell phone but it was a very nice convenience to have while we were there. We have now changed back to our original plan so our phone service while in Ixtapa was only $20 more than we usually pay for our cell.

Our stay at the Dorado was without a single problem. The hotel was very clean, we had fresh towels and wash cloths twice/day with turnback service and candy on the pillow at night plus towel animals and flowers the maid left everyday. We had a regular room on the southside of the hotel-the view is best from the higher floors. They have renovated all rooms and there are in-room safes in all rooms-key pad operated which was very nice. The lobby restrooms seemed to be kept in good shape and toilets, sinks, soap and towel dispensers were all automatic in them.

There were palapas available until at least 8AM every day and there were no problems obtaining one. The hotel had added new wooden beach furniture at the palapas with nice pads and they were adding drink holders to each chair. The pool area was busy and the chairs in the morning were pretty full but in the afternoon it seemed to us you could find a chair if you weren't too picky over locat1on.

We had the $15 credit/day. It states on the paperwork you receive when you check in it is not good for breakfast. We did eat lunch at one of the restaurants poolside each day. When we checked out they had our charges all listed and also the credit due you so they simply subtracted the $15/day from the total charges. If you purchase beverages and/or lunch, it pretty well eats up your $15 we found. We purchased both our small water bottles and the larger gallon size across the street from the hotel at one of the little grocery stores as the cost was much less than the hotel.

We had a very enjoyable stay and plan to go to this hotel again next January.
