Last night's storm is a regularly occurring event known locally as El Cordonazo de San Francisco. Though I can remember it missing the predicted date a time or three, almost every year without fail on the Día de San Francisco we get a drenching rainstorm that seems to come out of nowhere.

Yesterday afternoon looking at the weather satellite images I would never have imagined it would rain like it did last night. There was like one tiny cloud along the entire coast that formed up over us, but apparently it grew and grew and grew and let loose with a good series of rainstorms, at times torrential, that centered right on us throughout the night and into the twilight hours.

Just when we needed it most! Damn it was getting hot and uncomfortable, but at the moment it's a lovely somewhat coolish morning here in downtown Zihuatanejo.
