Cool picture. I remember the first time we walked along La Ropa in the Spring of 1984. We'd gone to La Perla for dinner based on a taxi driver's recommendation, and we walked down the beach at night and then up through the Sotavento/Catalina stairs to the lobby. We were staying in Ixtapa because a travel agent assured us that we'd like it better, although we'd heard great things about Zihua. Anyway, it was magical, we were hooked, and, through at least 20 trips back over the years, we've always stayed there, first at the Sotavento and now at the Catalina. The changes are not all bad, with several good, newer restaurants. Still, I could do without the wave-runners, Intrawest, too much light on the beach at night, and hotel prices that have made it difficult for many to afford to stay there. That won't keep us from going back, however.
