The cocodrilos have been around the bay a long time and we haven't had a single attack. Folks simply need to respect their space. Unfortunately when people see one in front of the estuary where the crocs live folks often stand right on the beach there blocking the way back into the estuary for the cocodrilo. So the croc stays in the water longer, folks make more of a commotion, and next thing you know the "authorities" send someone to remove it. They place them in a pond near the airport where they remain out of sight and out of mind, and no one gives a second thought to the well being of the displaced croc dumped into a new environment where they must compete for food that is even scarcer, and in some dry seasons those ponds dry up completely. What the "authorities" seem to ignore is that crocs will try to return to places where food is abundant and they feel more secure, such as La Ropa's dwindling estuary.
