Caritina Galeana Gómez celebrates her 100th birthday this October 7th. Doña Cari was the first woman in Zihuatanejo to hold the office of Regidora when Zihuatanejo became a municipality in 1953, opening the door for women in politics in Zihuatanejo and Guerrero.
