Just wanted to post a quick trip report. Got back yesterday from our 1st trip to Zihua. Stayed for 6 nights at The Tides. The resort was incredible -- the rooms, grounds, facilities, staff, etc. La Ropa beach was beautiful, and the weather cooperated the whole time.
Based on tips from this board, we also ventured out to eat at Amuleto (best steak I've had in a long time), Casa Que Canta (best piece of fish ever according to my wife), Il Mare, Lety's, Paty's and Bandidos (had the chicken mocajetes -- maybe our favorite meal the whole trip).
There have been many posts here about safety/security. Although we spent the majority of our time at the resort, we made two trips downtown (one at night) and walked (at night) to/from The Tides to Casa Que Canta and Il Mare. Not once during our trip were we ever concerned for our safety in the slightest bit. All the people we met (tourists and locals)were good and friendly people.
The trip was fantastic and we look forward to visiting again in the future.
