We offer a two-bedroom vacation rental beachfront apartment with a pool. The apartment is located on the 1st floor and is comfortably furnished throughout. It features two air-conditioned bedrooms with ceiling fans, one with a queen-size bed and the other with two full-size beds. The entire apartment has air-conditioning and ceiling fans, but usually with the tropical breeze off the ocean the ceiling fans are more than adequate for your comfort.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you should need including a refrigerator, gas stove, microwave oven, coffee maker, blender, cooking utensils, and a full set of dishes.

There's a living and dining room with a lovely view of the pool and ocean, a bathroom with a shower, hot water, and a flatscreen TV with cable and internet service.


Playa Blanca

This 15-kilometer (9-mile) long beach actually has three names, the major part of it being called Playa Blanca. It runs from the village of Barra de Potosí almost to Zihuatanejo Bay. The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport is near the midway point of the beach. Casa de la Tortuga is near Playa Larga and not too far from Barra de Potosí where numerous seafood restaurants known as enramadas front the beach and a large lagoon. There are also several restaurants within easy walking distance. We are located about 15 minutes by car from Zihuatanejo and 25 minutes from Ixtapa.

By staying at Casa de la Tortuga you are contributing to the conservation of sea turtles by helping us to fund the non-profit organization Campamento Tortuguero Ayotlcalli, a sea turtle rescue and conservation center situated between the apartment and the beach. During announced releases of turtle hatchlings you may experience guests walking through the property as they make their way to the sea turtle center. You are welcome to join us in this wonderful activity.

The three species of sea turtles that most frequently nest along our coast are the Green Turtle (tortuga verde), the Olive Ridley (golfina), and the endangered Leatherback (laúd). Somehow the females miraculously find their way back to the beach where they themselves were born in order to lay their eggs. Sea turtle nesting occurs year round; however, the peak nesting season for sea turtles along our coast is generally from July through January when we patrol the beach at night to rescue their eggs for incubation in a protected area. Releases of hatchlings genarally occur from August through February, though we commonly release hatchlings up until March. As guests at Casa de la Tortuga you will have the opportunity to experience the magic of this natural wonder. Depending on the time of year of your visit, you may experience watching sea turtles crawl out of the ocean waves, dig their nest and lay their eggs as well as watching other turtles hatch 45 to 55 days after their eggs were laid. We encourage our guests to participate in the release of hatchlings during the late afternoon around sunset. It is truly an unforgettable experience of a lifetime for people of all ages.

We think you will feel quite comfortable and at home in Casa de la Tortuga. There are lounge chairs, a table and an umbrella for the pool, and we have beach towels available in case you need them. Delicious beachfront seafood restaurants are located nearby within walking distance at Playa Blanca and Playa Larga as well as a little further away at Barra de Potosí, and taxi service is available. The maid will come to clean daily. If you need someone to shop and/or to prepare your meals for you this can be arranged at an additional cost. If you would like transportation arranged from and to the airport, pleased let us know and we will arrange it for a modest fee. If you would like wine or flowers waiting for you or massage service these can also be arranged at an additional cost. There is no smoking allowed inside the house.

Restrictions: No smoking inside the house.  
Reservations: All reservations must be made at least 7 days in advance and are subject to availability.
Deposits: A 50% deposit is required at the time of the reservation with the remaining amount to be paid upon arrivial. A security deposit of $75 is required upon arrival, to be refunded upon departure.
Cancellations: All cancellations will be charged 20% if made 20 days or more prior to the planned arrival date, 50% if made 10 to 19 days prior, 75% if made 5 to 9 days prior. Less than 5 days there will be no refund.
