Condo Serenidad #2 is a recently remodeled one-bedroom vacation rental condominium with one bathroom. The condo is centrally located overlooking La Madera Beach with a breathtaking view of Zihuatanejo Bay. It can sleep up to four persons comfortably with the use of the day bed in the living area. There is a pool on the property, and the complex has 24-hour security.

The large picture windows in the living area can be opened, and with windows on three sides, this vacation condo feels more like an open-air tropical bungalow. Enjoy stunning views of the beach, the bay and the condo complex's pool area from the living and dining areas as well as from the hammock hanging in its own room with a lovely tropical mural to help set the mood. There is normally a nice balmy breeze coming from the Pacific Ocean that, with the ceiling fans, keeps the beachfront condo pleasantly comfortable day and night, but there is also air-conditioning throughout the condo should you need it. Nighttimes with the windows open falling asleep to the rhythms of the usually small waves on La Madera Beach below are sublime.

Amenities include a full kitchen with a 6-burner stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, and everything to cook at home, if you'd like. The bedroom features a comfortable king-size bed and plenty of closet space. There is cable TV with many channels in English, telephone service, and Wi-Fi internet.

The location of this vacation rental is extremely convenient. La Ropa Beach with its seafood restaurants and boutique hotels is about a 15-minute walk to the southeast of La Madera. North and east of Condo Serenidad #2 is downtown Zihuatanejo, a bustling and thriving community where you'll find banks with ATMs, all kinds of shops, several farmer-type markets with fresh produce and other goods, and too many delicious restaurants to name, including along the waterfront walkway that runs from La Madera to the pier. The streets of the neighborhood Colonia La Madera also have many good restaurants to enjoy.

La Madera Beach gets its name from the planks of wood that washed ashore from the sinking of the Spanish galleon "El Carmelo" by the English privateer (and later Admiral) George Anson on the "Centurion" in Zihuatanejo Bay on February 27, 1742. After the battle, "El Carmelo" was inevitably disintegrated as the waves ground it to pieces on the rocks between La Madera Beach and La Ropa Beach at a place called El Eslabón.

La Madera Beach is a southward-facing gently sloping beach of fine light brown sound. Usually the Pacific Ocean here is quite calm, even more so in Zihuatanejo's protected bay, making La Madera Beach an easy place for swimming and enjoying its shallow water. Besides swimmers, you'll sometimes see oyster fishermen, stand-up paddleboarders, and novice surfers at this beach. Sea turtles use La Madera Beach to lay their eggs. Though usually the eggs are removed and taken to a safer area for their 2-month incubation, sometimes the rescuers miss a nest and you'll see them crawl out from the sand at sunset. On occasion dolphins can be seen in Zihuatanejo Bay as well as whales that visit during the winter.

Zihuatanejo seems to have some of the best weather in the world. The days and nights are a little cooler during the late fall, winter and spring, but the summertime is also a beautiful time of year to visit when our hillsides are a lush green from the rains. It doesn't rain every day, and sometimes not for weeks at a time, but when it does it usually happens briefly in the evening or nighttime. Passing storms in the ocean outside Zihuatanejo Bay can make for some incredible scenery. Fortunately for us, most big storms swirl westward away from us. Being surrounded by hills helps protect us from the bigger storms that may come our way.

A variety of tours and charters including diving, sport fishing, surfing, archaeological sites, and water sports are available in the area. For additional details and more info about Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa and the surrounding region, please visit Zihuatanejo.net.
