Some of you might enjoy these photos of this unusual spot to visit in Zijuatanejo. Surreal and kind of creepy.

You can click on the map option to see where the photos were taken.

It might be a good place to take tourists.
I paid $50 pesos for each person to enter.

The murals...

Oh... some of the murals are a bit risqué so those of you who are easily offended should likely avert your eyes.

"Art"

A fascinating place. Just the experience of getting in is unforgettable. (The custodian/squatter demanded my cap as part of his end of the bargain -- didn't get it.)
We found the lavishness of the "art" up there outdone only by its crudeness.

So is the place open to visitors on a daily basis? Like some old dude sitting on a chair guarding the gate, hitting up visitors like the pay toilet @ the Mercado; or is somebody actually conducting a guided tour?
I guess I'd want to check it out for myself too now that i've heard about it and it's in town, like up the hill from where I usually lodge.

I have been to the Partenon 3 times in the last 6 mo. and there was always a gate keeper/guard/tour guide. He has charged me a different price each time but has been well worth the cost. I had studied the history of the Partenon before going and the giude was very knowledgeable.I plan on taking more family and friends there again.

Thank you Professor!

I make my living in advertising and commercial art, so I suppose you could say I come by my penchant for simple but often incongruously appropriate visuals more or less dishonestly...

Now Tony if you and I were really smart, we'd figure out a way to have the City of Z. pay for our trips and a hefty tab @ Paccolo's on the pretense of us making the place ship shape & Bristol fashion ***
for hordes of rubbernecking turistos.

About as much a chance of that as Pusser's Rum going back to being $2 a bottle, I suppose..

best way to get up there

by kmlewis, Monday, April 11, 2011, 19:03 (5632 days ago) @ Harry

I have always wanted to go check that place out! I do know there was someone up there and you sort of give him something to go inside. what does he usually take? how much should I expect to give him? and what is the best way to get up there. do I have to walk? or will a cab take me up?

Kathy,

I'll go with you next year. Sr. Jason is a little chicken. I've tried to talk him into it but no such luck.

For us, even finding the guy at all seemed pretty hit & miss. He just materialized out of nowhere. He tried to give the feeling that he was breaking the rules somehow to let us in. I suppose that raises the perceived value.
