Guerrero's health authorities report 214 currently active cases of Covid-19 in Zihuatanejo, 2 in Petatlán and 1 in La Unión. Experts agree most of the new cases are the omicron variant, and unvaccinated people continue being the hardest hit. Local teachers are going to receive their booster shots here next week at the Universidad Tecnológico de la Costa Grande. I'm hoping others of us will, as well and that they won't crowd us all together.

It's been a little warmer these past few days, though the nights remain perfect for sleeping, under the sheets remains optional. With the bars closing at 01:00 we've been enjoying a bit more peace and quiet except for the usual parade of loud drunks shouting in the streets as they walk home. Police presence is null at night as usual.

I'm happy to report the beachfront walkway now has many more garbage cans placed more conveniently. A huge difference from a few weeks ago when the holiday crowds were here. While cochinos will be cochinos, at least there appears to be less garbage on the beach for the workers to clean up each morning.

Local shops and businesses are going to great lengths to look after the health of their customers.
