Where to eat when visiting Troncones

Coming back to Zihua in November and would like to get a cab to Troncones, look around and have lunch on the beach. Any suggestions where to eat?

There are lots of places that are great in Troncones. We've been there three times for a week each (actually got married there in 2007...) I guess it depends on what vibe you're looking for.

At the mid south end of the beach, there is Roberto's bistro. We love this place. It's beachy and the service and food are excellent. Saturday nights they have a great show and you have to try the Argnetinian steak. It's better than grass fed New England steak (which is better than just about anything!)

Mid beach, there are many places...Mi Casa es Su Casa is at a hotel and is consistently good. It's also on the beach and has good service. We've seen people surfing there, if that's your thing.

Also central in town is Costa Bravo, which is an excellent place. I had some awesome tortilla soup there in March this year. They have tables on the beach as well as under an awning.

Present Moment Retreat is a little north of that. If you want awesome California cuisine, this is your place. We ate there twice in March (once for dinner and once for breakfast) and both meals were excellent. It's a little pricier than other places, but worth the money.

Even further north up the beach are a bunch of restaurants, but I can only really comment on Inn at Manzanillo Bay. We've eaten there each trip and enjoyed it every time. You might also be lucky enough to meet the lovely Belam, who sometimes posts here. She's a wonderful person and very good at her job. Food is fusion California-Mexico

So if you're looking for a place on the beach...everything in Troncones is good. If you want steak, Roberto's. If you're a surfer, Inn at Manzanillo Bay or Mi Casa es Su Casa. For a genuine local restaurant, Costa Bravo. A taste of the US, Present Moment Retreat. Also try to take yoga class-- there's no better place for it!

Obviously, I'm a big fan of Troncones. I hope you enjoy and post a trip report!

Good choices Christine. Let's add Cafe Sol for great breakfasts, salads & bar food. Christian , the owner, bakes the best artisan bread during the high season.

Thanks for listing all of this out - we are planning to visit Troncones in September and are really looking forward to it - can I ask though are most of these restaurants only open in the high season or will they be open in low season too?

All the restaurants mentioned by Christine are usually open all year. Cafe Sol is not open now and I don't think will be in Sept either, but you never know...
