We ventured into Zihua last night and found a TON of people on the streets at 9 pm ?!

Since you mentioned the thanks for the romantic restaurants, you are now looking for great food at great prices and the romantic aspect is not important, right? Again, there are many options. What did you have in mind? Are you talking about breakfast, lunch, or dinner? The more information you offer, the better the referrals will be.

Pssst. Go to La Terracita, Carmelita's, or Margaritas for breakfast or lunch. You won't be disappointed.

Also, do you want to pal around with the locals? There are many restaurants in and around the Mercado Municipal. Fonda Valencia is one of my favorites. Ask for the mole with vegetables, beans, and rice and tell 'em Paquito sent you.

Correction: The restaurant's name is Fonda Valencia, not La Valencia. My apologies.

Ricomar on pozole alley... Doesn't get any cheaper, and the pozole, enchiladas, and tamales are fantastic. Multiple flavors of each of those, plus guacamole and other treats on order. We go there weekly.

Take a combi or a taxi to Doña Celia's in Coaucoyul.....but only on Sundays, and best to arrive before noon or 1 pm, 'cuz the pechuga de pollo is gone by then. Excellent mole and tortillas cooked the old way, and the most reasonable prices in the area.

I second this, and don't miss trying the Chiva Barbacoa!

That should read "Coacoyul". Doña Celia's mole poblano is delicious, no matter how you spell it. Tortillas on a wood-fired comal, too.

Taqueria La Flama Del Tizon.
Great tacos al pastor and baked potato with cheese and meats.
Very inexpensive.
You can also get a drink at bar next door to eat with your food.
