harassment on la ropa by jogger

Heads up for La Ropa morning walkers... there is a jogger who is aggressively harassing people accompanied by their canine friends, and those who are friendly with those people.

To keep an eye out, he wears a chest heart monitor while he runs (only person I have ever seen do that on La Ropa, but obviously don't go solely on that characteristic). He was here last year at this time for about a week, and he especially verbally bullies women and older people (usually in english). Last year he was bordering on physical contact a couple times. I had to intervene once last year to get him to leave someone alone.

Please use caution or bring a friend in the mornings for the time being. He seems unstable and unpredictable with his anger.

I thought dogs were banned from La Ropa. Wouldn’t the easiest and civil solution not to bring the dog to the beach? I don’t agree with the aggression but one hardly has a complaint when breaking the law. Are we to be concerned about the smokers on patios who are harassed by other patrons?

So back in the day you would've also ratted on escaped enslaved people because it was the law. Come on, counselor! You can do better than that!

If everyone who broke any little rule on the beach was aggressively harassed and the more vulnerable ones bullied, would that be ok?

He has the right to disapprove of people who chose not to follow all the rules, but intimidation is not ok under any circumstances, imo. He can call the authorities if he wants to. Harassing women alone? I don't care what they are doing, that's not ok.

The man is a definite hazard. We ran into him twice last season and were verbally attacked by him, and the second time expected something physical.

We were coming out of the water from paddling this morning when he "jogged" by, and Victor Vargas, who has the concession between Villa Mexicana and The Thompson pointed him out to us and told us he was a very bad man who harassed women.

Maybe, just maybe this time while he is hear we'll miss him???

Excellent question. Kind of goes with how stupid does a fat guy with a heart monitor and a man bun look? Then getting so upset he turns colors....

However, I refuse to use the word fat and stoop to his level.

Agreed. But just in case, bring a very big friend or two with you, okay? We love you very much, Rob, and don't want anything bad to happen to you.

He didn't show up this morning, so no photo. It was a nice quiet morning on la ropa. Hopefully his visit this year is over, but keep your wits about you.

Just met the guy. He was on playa La Ropa around 7:30AM. I was exiting the beach with my dog on leash. I haven’t seen him before but I recognized him by your description. I tried to avoid him but he talked to me. He told me dogs were not allowed. It took me a few seconds to decide if I should reply but couldn’t help it : I said I didn’t care. He replied it was against the law. I pointed out the pile of garbage next to us and said my dog was not responsable for that. He said it wasn’t the reason of the ban or something like this and go on and on about the law. I had a few replies in my head but he was not getting closer (maybe the size of my dog stopped him), so I decided to ignore him and did my routine to get rid of the the sand at the showers. He went away.

Sorry for your luck. I am out of town a few days, so I won't be able to get a photo unfortunately. Glad he eventually left you alone, but please keep an eye out for others he might be more aggressive with.

We were lucky. We were part way up the alley after exiting the beach when we passed him going to the beach. We said nothing, and he said nothing. He'll likely make up for it manana. Sigh
