Happy Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to all my U.S. compatriots. Keep on striving to fulfill his dream!

Roads throughout Guerrero including in La Unión and south of Zihuatanejo were blocked earlier today by so-called teachers, but they have since been re-opened after dialogue with state authorities. A bummer for travelers, but the so-called teachers don't care.

If you're going to Acapulco, be aware there's a severe shortage of public transportation thanks to violent assholes.

Zihuatanejo's mayor's wife "resigned" her symbolic post as head of the municipal DIF so that she can run for mayor in the elections this year. Absolutely no one was surprised. With all the cement that's been poured and paid for by taxpayers, she has plenty of resources at her disposal, much more than anyone else, and is expected to win the election easily.

Somehow we all got through another day of absolutely picture-postcard-perfect weather this Monday. I don't know how we do it. Practically a cloudless sky with a brilliant tropical sun beating down on beaches, ocean and palm trees, high temp around 30°C, low around 22°C. Light onshore breeze in the morning, offshore in the evening. Still no snow in the forecast. Oooo la la! B-)

Sadly we 6 Canucks are on our way home to snow and cold today after a beautiful 2 weeks in Zihua/Ixtapa. Paradise indeed has not disappointed us; for the 16th or 17th year. Pleased to find many family businesses and friends survived Covid, and were happy to greet us again. Until next time…thanks Rob for all your advice and guidance. We’ll keep following you and the new FB page

Besides from that issue, at Estrella de Oro which I use to go to Acapulco and back to Z for medical issues, they told me that several routes were cancelled due to a shortage of drivers, as a result of the OTIS problem.

Among them in particular, my return to Z bus that had a 7 p.m. departure time back to Z from Acapulco, that I regularly used, has been suspended.

That's not unlike the position I found myself in when I had to go to Acapulco for cataract surgery, so I simply bit the bullet and hired a local trustworthy taxi. That's what I would do right now. And be prepared to be extorted by Acapulco Tránsitos. They're bloodthirsty bastards!
